Radisson Blu hotel

301 Argyle Street, Glasgow G2

Our Review

Winning awards for its strikingly modern exterior, the Radisson Blu is a top 4-star hotel in the centre of Glasgow, very handy for Central Station and only a short walk from Buchanan Street. Inside, it boasts all the Scandinavian chic that has earned the Radisson group such praise. The indoor pool and sauna make it a top choice for a relaxing getaway.

The Radisson Blu Hotel is housed in a gleaming, stunningly futuristic property clad in glass and steel, which has earned a number of architectural awards since opening in November 2002. The long, spacious lobby is designed in an attractive contemporary fashion, with the tall windows letting in plenty of natural light. Elsewhere there are huge displays of exotic flowers, lots of contemporary art and sharp minimalist styling. The 246 custom-designed guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows. There are three types of décor to choose from: City, Modern and Nordic. City rooms feature vibrant orange and leopard print, Modern rooms feature soft shadings, and Nordic rooms feature soft colours of beige and powder blue. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. Combining art and food, internationally acclaimed chef, Sir Peter Blake, and restaurateur, Roy Ackerman, offer traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a modern twist in the Collage restaurant. Alternatively, guests can choose from an array of authentic Spanish dishes, including tapas and paella, and exclusively Spanish wines, beers and drinks in Tapaell'ya. They can also enjoy a drink in the Collage Bar, winner of the Theme Best Bar Design Award for Scotland 2003. All hotel guests get free access to the health club operated by LA Fitness, which is located in the basement.
